Master ASL! - Why are the standards important? (2 of 5)
Master ASL! - Why are the standards important? (2 of 5)
Most students studying a foreign language rarely become proficient in it. The national standards are designed to enrich the learning experience and guide students toward developing cultural and linguistic fluency. The goal of the standards is to guide students to "know how, when and why, to say what to whom" in any situation with native signers. The national standards apply to all levels of instruction including high school and college. Author: Jason E. Zinza www.masterasl.com Published by Sign Media www.signmedia.com ***

A Visionary in Payment Card Industry Standards
A Visionary in Payment Card Industry Standards
Having a secure environment and maintaining world‐class security measures is of paramount importance to the Province of BC, as we process in excess of 9 million credit card transactions, representing $1.1 billion in revenue, annually. The consequences of just one data security breach can range from reputational damage, financial loss, significant fines and penalties to intellectual property theft and system vulnerability on a massive scale. The Province of BC has been confirmed by independent external auditors as meeting Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). The PCI DSS standard is a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security at an industry level. Nicholas Krischanowsky's superb leadership skills have positioned the BC Government as the first of federal and provincial governments to have met these exceptionally high card security standards. Nicholas's strong leadership was demonstrated by using risk‐based techniques to prioritize PCI compliance efforts and costs, based on an enterprise‐wide understanding of government's risk exposure. As a visionary who can implement change and deliver results, Nicholas saw this as an opportunity to implement PCI plus best practices -- to lift the security floor for government financial card transactions, strengthen its egovernment platform and create opportunities to leverage PCI investments and knowledge to the broader public sector.
